Most South African tap water is treated with chlorine. It keeps the water safe, but it leaves that swimming-pool taste and smell in your glass, your coffee and your cooking. FILTRD takes it out at the tap, before it reaches you.
See the difference
Same tap. Different water.
Drag the handle. On the left, water straight from the tap. On the right, the same water after it runs through FILTRD.
Chlorine taste, swimming-pool smell and a dull, flat glass of water.
Activated carbon takes out chlorine, bad tastes and odours. Clean, crisp water.
FILTRD reduces chlorine, bad tastes and odours in municipal tap water.
The FILTRD Tap Filter
One product, made to do one job really well.
How it works
Activated carbon between
your tap and your glass.
Water runs through a carbon cartridge inside the chrome housing before it comes out of the filter.

Activated carbon
Its porous surface traps chlorine, the main cause of that pool-water taste.
-
2
Taste and odour
Also reduces the compounds behind earthy, musty tastes and smells.

FAQs
Returns and delivery are set out in our refund policy and shipping policy.
Does a tap filter really make a difference?
Yes, to taste and smell. South African municipal water is treated with chlorine, which keeps it safe but leaves a pool-like taste. FILTRD's activated carbon reduces chlorine, bad tastes and odours, so most people notice cleaner-tasting water from the first glass. If you don't, you have 30 days to send it back.
Will it fit my tap?
FILTRD screws onto most standard kitchen taps with a threaded spout, where the little aerator tip screws off. It won't fit pull-out, spray or sensor taps. Not sure? Email us a photo of your tap and we'll tell you.
How do I install it?
Unscrew the aerator tip from your tap, screw FILTRD on in its place and hand-tighten. It takes about 2 minutes and needs no tools.
Will it lower my water pressure?
Filtered water flows at up to 2.75 litres a minute, a little slower than an open tap, which gives the carbon time to work. Flip the lever for normal, full-pressure flow.
How often do I change the filter?
Each filter lasts up to 750 litres, about 3 months for most homes. When the taste changes or the flow slows down, it's time for a new one.
Can I use it with hot water?
No. Use cold water only, between 4 °C and 38 °C. Hot water damages the carbon.
How long does delivery take?
3–5 business days, anywhere in South Africa.
Can I return it?
Yes. You have 30 days. See our refund policy for the details.
